Soul Sight

Don’t look at the color of my skin;
don’t look at where I came from
or the clothes I wear.
Look at me with your eyes closed
and you will see much more
than your eyes can ever see.
Don’t listen to me with your ears;
you may not understand my language.
Listen to me with your soul
then our hearts will
beat to the same rhythm
regardless of race,
color, religion or beliefs
because we are human;
we are only human,
we are all human
and we can live in harmony,
respect each other;
I can learn from you
and you can learn from me.
We don’t have to be threatened
of our differences,
that is what makes life colorful.
You can hear my accent as charming,
it does not have to be heard as something negative.
My customs are just as sacred
and beautiful as yours.
If you don’t understand them I am willing to share,
I am willing to show you how wonderful life can be
when we look at each other as
brothers and sisters
as opposed to strangers or enemies.
